America Dances! Celebrating Our Sparkling Heritage - Broadway, TV & Film

"AMERICA DANCES! Celebrating Our Sparkling Heritage - Broadway, TV & Film" celebrated a variety of entertainment that defines our American culture-Past, Present and Future.

It was produced & directed by Ann Marie DeAngelo. Honorees included Larry Herbert, the late Patrick Swayze and Lloyd Rigler - Lawrence E. Deutsch Foundation.

The New York City Center event on November 2nd, featured a huge variety of dancers of all types: ballet, modern, tap, jazz, salsa. Among the highlights: the "Stars and Stripes" pas de deux by Ashley Bouder and Andrew Veyette of New York City Ballet; a duet by Cedar Lake Contemporary Ballet; the synchronized tap-dancing of the Lombard Twins; excerpts from Bob Fosse's "Dancin'"; and a salsa performance by unheralded youngsters Alexandra Gutkovitch, 10, and John Gaylan, 14, that brought down the house. Laura Benanti, Valerie Harper and Samuel Ramey also appeared to support their colleagues who dance as part of their career.

Career Transition For Dancers with offices in New York City, Los Angeles, and
Chicago has helped over 4,100 professional dancers identify their unique talents in preparation for establishing new careers when dance is no longer an option. Since its founding in 1985, the organization has provided more than 40,000 hours (equivalent to $4 million) of one-on-one career counseling and program services - at no cost - and has awarded millions of dollars in scholarships for education and entrepreneurial ventures. The organization also provides dancers with specialized services that include transition seminars and workshops, peer support groups, resource centers, a toll-free national career counseling hotline, an interactive resource website, and a National Career Network.
