RACE FOR THE KIDS 5K RAISED MORE THAN $134,000 FOR CHILDREN’S MEMORIAL HOSPITAL

More than 1,300 participants recently took part in the Race for the Kids 5k run/walk held at Soldier Field on Saturday, June 20. The event raised more than $134,000 for the patients and families of Children’s Memorial Hospital.
18-year-old Children’s Memorial patient Connor Chadwick, who was born with
cerebral palsy, led runners from the starting line.
The 5k featured a CARA-registered course that took participants along Chicago’s beautiful lakefront path. A post-event party with live music, refreshments, kids’ activities and awards celebrated the finish.
Prizes were awarded to the top three male and female runners as well as the top individual and team fundraisers. Adam Chambers was the top overall finisher with a time of 17:36 and Stephanie Ragones was the top female runner with a time of 20:32.
The top individual fundraiser was Ellen Robbins who raised $5,025 and the top two fundraising teams were Patrick’s Pacers with $10,060 and Paige’s Pals with $9,870.
Children’s Memorial Hospital, Chicago, is recognized as one of the top pediatric hospitals in the country by rankings published in U.S. News & World Report and serves as a major regional referral center. Its physicians are on the faculty at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. The hospital is currently engaged in the Heroes for Life campaign to raise a minimum of $600 million to help create Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and support its medical and nursing professionals, programs and research. As a not-for-profit organization, Children’s Memorial relies on philanthropy to help provide care to 126,000 patients and their families every year.
