The Jed Foundation Eighth Annual Gala

THE JED FOUNDATION HOSTS EIGHTH ANNUAL GALA

Event to honor Pete Wentz & Sheila Nevins for shattering the silence around mental health and suicide

WHO: Hosted by Stone Phillips the evening will honor musician/entrepreneur/activist Pete Wentz and President of HBO Documentaries Sheila Nevins. The gala will feature performances by Kristy Cates (from the original Broadway cast of Wicked) and The Bacon Brothers. Brittany Snow will host the after party with music by DJ Jake Hoffman and a concert by Custom with guests such as Travis McCoy and others. Presenters include: Heather Matarazzo, Lesley Stahl of CBS 60 Minutes and Stephen Friedman of MTV 360.

WHAT: The Jed Foundation is the leading nonprofit organization working to reduce emotional distress and prevent suicide among college students. Suicide remains the second leading cause of death among college students and unaddressed emotional problems are a top reason students don’t graduate or do well in school. The Jed Foundation’s programs are changing the way parents and students think about mental health, paving the way for more young people to get treatment if needed, and helping colleges create safer, healthier campus communities. The evening’s honorees, Pete Wentz and Sheila Nevins, are being honored for their contributions to the national dialogue on mental health in America.

WHEN: Thursday, June 11, 2009
